JOSEFINE “JOANN” KRISTINA HOGUE

 Josefine “Joann” Kristina Hogue, age 86, of Toledo, died Friday, June 19, 2009, at the Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. Interment will follow at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo. Visitation will be held Thursday, June 25, 2009 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Joann was born on April 28, 1923 in Poznan, Poland, the daughter of Walenty and Martha Roguszka.

On March 17, 1953, she was united in marriage to Charles Hogue in Berlin, Germany. She formerly worked for the Community Action Program and Red Cross. Joann was a Patriot during WWII under the German occupancy and became a U.S. citizen in 1957. She was a member of the Toledo American Legion and the Living Faith United Methodist Church in Tama. She bowled for over 30 years and enjoyed playing cards. Joann volunteered at the area nursing homes.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter at birth; her son, Ron Hogue, in 1993 and many aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her husband, Charles, of Toledo; her children, Ursula Sturm of Altenhagen, Germany, Michael Hogue of Marshalltown, Iowa, Patricia (Rod) Henle of Toledo, Iowa, Richard (Brigitte) Hogue of Bad Urach, Germany and Diane Hogue of Toledo, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, Peter, Petra, Carmen, Bodo and Daniel, all of Germany, and Lisa Kay, Andria, Alison, Aaron, Kristina, Amber and Brian Jeremy; nine great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial fund has been established.
