Water main break means no water, school delay in Mount Ayr

A water main break on Jefferson Street early Thursday morning has meant that the town is out of water and a boil order will be put into effect once the water is restored, meaning water should be boiled before it is consumed.

School in the Mount Ayr Community school district was delayed two hours while the work was being done.

Residents will be asked to conserve water once the water is restored so that the water towers can refill.

Public portapotties will be placed at the same sites as the last water system trouble and HyVee and CGI both have supplies of drinking water for sale, it was noted.

Further updates will be given as the day progresses.
