DOROTHY MARIE HORNE

MAY 31, DOROTHY MARIE, INFANT DAUGHTER OF J.O. AND ELIZABETH ROBINSON HORNE, AGED THREE MONTHS AND TWENTY-TWO DAYS PASSED AWAY.  MR. AND MRS. HORNE HAVE BEEN CALLED UPON TO PASS THROUGH A GREAT SORROW IN THE GIVING UP OF THEIR FIRST BORN.  GOD HAS TAKEN BACK THE DEAR BABY HE SO LATELY GAVE TO THEM, AND THE BEREAVED YOUNG PARENTS ARE STRICKEN INDEED.  THE SYMPATHY OF A LARGE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS GOES OUT TO THEM IN THEIR FIRST GREAT SORROW, AS WELL AS TO ALL THE RELATIVES WHO HAD LEARNED TO LOVE THE LITTLE ONE.  THE LOVE, THE HOPES AND EXPECTATIONS THAT WERE CENTERED IN THIS LITTLE ONE BY ALL THE RELATIVES WERE SOMETHING WONDERFUL.  THOUGH THESE HOPES SEEM BURIED WITH THE CHILD, YET WE KNOW THEY ARE NOT, AND THAT SHE STILL LIVES, AND THAT THE HEAVENLY FATHER HAS HER IN HIS KEEPING FOR  “HE CARRIES THE LAMBS IN HIS BOSOM.”  DOROTHY WAS ILL FOR SEVERAL DAYS, BUT DID NOT SEEM SERIOUSLY SO TILL TOWARDS THE END.  EVERYTHING WAS DONE THAT SKILL AND LOVING HANDS COULD DO.  THE FUNERAL WAS FROM THE HOME IN POE TOWNSHIP, AND WAS CONDUCTED BY REV. JULIUS NELSON OF THE BAPTIST CHURCH AND DR. JOSEPH CALHOUN OF THE UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, PASTORS OF THE TWO FAMILIES.  THERE WAS A VERY LARGE ATTENDANCE AND THE TWO GRANDFATHERS, JOSEPH ROBINSON AND DR. WM. HORNE CARRIED THE PRECIOUS LITTLE BODY TO THE CEMETERY WHERE IT WAS TENDERLY LAID AWAY.  “SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN TO COME UNTO ME AND FORBID THEM NOT, FOR OF SUCH IS THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN.”
