GEORGE WILLIAM COVERDELL

GEORGE WILLIAM COVERDELL WAS BORN JANUARY 22, 1887, IN WORTH COUNTY MISSOURI, AND DIED AT HIS HOME NEAR BEACONSFIELD, RINGGOLD COUNTY, IOWA, MARCH 29, 1919, AT THE AGE OF 32 YEARS, TWO MONTHS AND SEVEN DAYS.

HE SPENT HIS BOYHOOD DAYS IN WORTH COUNTY, MOVING TO RINGGOLD COUNTY, WHERE HE HAS SINCE RESIDED, WHEN A YOUNG MAN.  ON DECEMBER 13, 1911, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO BESSIE KIMBALL AT DIAGONAL, IOWA.  TO THIS UNION ONE DAUGHTER WAS BORN, WHO, WITH HER MOTHER, IS LEFT TO MOURN HER FATHER’S DEATH.  SHE IS THREE YEARS OF AGE.

MR. COVERDELL WAS CONVERTED AND BAPTIZED INTO THE FAITH OF CHRIST AT DIAGONAL IN THE YEAR 1910, BUT FOR REASONS BEST KNOWN TO HIMSELF DID NOT UNITE TO ANY CHURCH.

BESIDES HIS WIFE AND BABY THERE ARE LEFT TO MOURN THEIR LOSS ONE BROTHER, CHARLES C. OF ELLSTON; HIS FATHER OF NEAR DIAGONAL; THREE HALF BROTHERS AND ONE HALF SISTER, ALL LIVING AT  THE PARENTAL HOME.  HE ALSO LEAVES HIS GRANDPARENTS, REV. AND MRS. G.W. HENSLEY OF GRANT CITY, MO., AND MANY OTHER RELATIVES.

HONORED AND LOVED BY A WIDE CIRCLE OF FRIENDS, HE LEAVES THIS EARTH. DEATH CAUSED BY INFLUENZA, FOLLOWED BY PNEUMONIA.
