SYBIL PRATT LESAN

SYBIL PRATT LESAN, DAUGHTER OF CHARLES I. AND MEHITABLE S. LESAN, WAS BORN AT SEBEC, MAINE, FEBRUARY 28, 1835. IN 1852,  SOON AFTER THE DEATH OF HER MOTHER, SHE CAME WITH HER FATHER AND FAMILY TO STARK COUNTY, IL. HERE SHE WAS MARRIED JUNE 30, 1854 TO DAVID M. LESAN. IN THE SPRING OF 1855 THEY MOVED TO RINGGOLD COUNTY, IOWA, WHERE THEY RESIDED NEAR MOUNT AYR AND IN THAT CITY UNTIL THE DEATH OF THE HUSBAND, FEBRUARY 19, 1907. SINCE THAT TIME SHE MADE HER HOME WITH HER CHILDREN. SHE DIED AT THE HOME OF HER SON CHARLEY LESAN NEAR EAGLEVILLE, MO., AGED 84 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND FOURTEEN DAYS.

SHE LEAVES FOUR SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS AS FOLLOW; A.L. LESAN, OF KELLERTON; G.F. LESAN OF HOUSTON, MO.; WHO WAS UNABLE TO BE PRESENT AT THE FUNERAL; MRS. D. D. BEARD OF MOUNT AYR; MRS. J. E. MAIN OF CRESTON; C.R. LESAN OF MOUNT AYR AND C.W. LESAN OF EAGLEVILLE, MO. TWO CHILDREN PRECEDED HER IN DEATH, ALBERT I. LESAN , THE SECOND SON, WHO DIED IN INFANCY AND ROY B. LESAN, THE YOUNGEST SON, WHO DIED IN 1891, AGED FOURTEEN YEARS. BESIDES HER CHILDREN SHE LEAVES TWO SISTERS, MRS. M. M. LESAN AND MRS. HARRIET E. CLARK OF MOUNT AYR AND A BROTHER J. P. LESAN OF EUREKA SPRINGS, ARKANSAS, BESIDE NUMEROUS OTHER RELATIVES.

FOR MANY YEARS SHE HAS BEEN A MEMBER OF HE METHODIST CHURCH AND AT THE TIME OF HER DEATH HER MEMBERSHIP WAS WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH AT MOUNT AYR. SHE HAD BEEN ONE OF THE FAITHFUL AND USEFUL MEMBERS AT THE LESANVILLE CHURCH DURING MANY MANY YEARS BEFORE COMING TO TOWN AND HAD MADE A HOST OF GOOD FRIENDS, AMONG THE GENERATION OF PIONEERS WHO HAVE MOSTLY PRECEDED HER TO THEIR REWARD. IT WAS SUCH AS SHE WHO LAID THE FOUNDATION FOR ALL THE GLORY AND PROSPERITY OF THE PRESENT GENERATION.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE MOUNT AYR METHODIST CHURCH BY THE PASTOR, FRANK BEAN, ON APRIL 16, AFTER WHICH THE REMAINS WERE CARRIED TO THE BEAUTIFUL LITTLE CEMETERY AT LESANVILLE FOR INTERMENT.
