GEORGE MCCONNELL

GEORGE MCCONNELL WAS BORN AT BROWNSVILLE, IN., MAY 1, 1855, AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HIS HOME NEAR BEACONSFIELD, IA, SEPTEMBER 25, 1924 BEING AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH 69 YEARS, 4 MONTHS AND 24 DAYS OF AGE.  HE CAME TO IOWA WITH HIS PARENTS AT THE AGE OF FOUR MONTHS AND HAS LIVED HIS ENTIRE LIFE IN RINGGOLD AND DECATUR COUNTIES.  HE WAS MARRIED TO REBECCA HAINES MARCH 17, 1881, AND TO THIS UNION WERE BORN THIRTEEN CHILDREN: THREE DAUGHTERS HAVING PROCEDED HIM TO THE GREAT BEYOND. OLIVE DIED APRIL 1903 AT THE AGE OF ONE YEAR; MRS. MAUDE BAUMANN IN MARCH 1910, AT THE AGE OF 24, AND BERNICE DIED JUNE 1917, AT THE AGE OF SEVENTEEN.  HE LEAVES TO MOURN THEIR LOSS THE WIFE AND TEN CHILDREN: MRS. ALTA STULTS, OF MACON, MO; MRS. OPAL SPARKS OF WENATCHEE, WA; MRS. STELLA WALKER OF MACON, MO; RALPH OF CHEROKEE, IOWA; JOHN OF ELLSTON, IOWA; DALE OF THAYER, IOWA; HOYLE OF CHERDAN, IOWA; HALE OF VAN WERT, IOWA; GUY AND JAP AT HOME.  ALL WERE PRESENT AT THE FUNERAL SERVICES EXCEPT MRS. OPAL SPARKS AND MRS. ALTA STULTS, THE LATTER BEING CALLED BACK TO HER HOME THE DAY BEFORE THE FUNERAL.  BESIDES THE CHILDREN HE HAS TWENTY-THREE GRANDCHILDREN, THREE SISTERS, TWO BROTHERS AND A HOST OF OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.  HE WAS A GOOD HUSBAND, FATHER, AND NEIGHBOR, AND HONEST IN ALL HIS DEALINGS. HE HAD BEEN A CONSTANT SUFFERER  FOR THE PAST TWELVE YEARS.  WHILE HE WILL BE SADLY MISSED IT IS A FEELING OF RELIEF TO THE FAMILY TO KNOW HE IS OVER HIS SUFFERING.
