CYRUS JACKSON

CYRUS JACKSON, SON OF JAMES M. AND ELIZABETH JACKSON, WAS BORN AT ELMIRA, STARK COUNTY, ILLINOIS, NOVEMBER 2, 1847 AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE AT HIS HOME IN KELLERTON, IA, ON THE EVENING OF OCTOBER 6, 1924.  HIS BOYHOOD WAS SPENT AT THE HOME OF HIS BIRTH.  HE CAME TO IOWA WITH HIS BROTHER, JOHN JACKSON, IN THE YEAR 1874, AND HAS SINCE LIVED IN OR NEAR KELLERTON.  HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO ALICE FITTRO IN 1903. TO THIS UNION A DAUGHTER, IOLA MAE, WAS BORN IN 1907, DYING IN INFANCY.  CYRUS JACKSON UNITED THE METHODIST CHURCH AT KELLERTON IN 1905 AND TO THE CLOSE OF HIS LIFE REMAINED FAITHFUL AND CONSCIENTIOUS MEMBER.  HE WAS A MAN OF KEEN BUINESS ABLILITY AND WAS HELD IN HIGH ESTEEM BY ALL WHO KNEW HIM.  NEVER DID A WORTHY APPEAL FOR HELP PASS BY HIM UNHEEDED.  HIS LOSS IS FELT NOT ONLY BY HIS IMMEDIATE RELATIVES BUT BY THE COMMUNITY IN WHICH HE LIVED.  THOSE LEFT TO MOURN HIS DEPARTURE ARE HIS WIFE, A SISTER, MRS. L.M. BUCHANAN OF KEWANEE, IL., AND BROTHERS ERNEST JACKSON OF TOULON, IL.; B.F. JACKSON OF SHELBINA, MO.; J.A. JACKSON AND W.J. JACKSON OF KELLERTON, IOWA, A NUMBER OF NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND A HOST OF FRIENDS.  FUNERAL SERVICES WERE CONDUCTED AT THE METHODIST CHURCH ON WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON AT 2:30 BY PASTOR, REV. C. E. BENNETT, AND INTERMENT MADE IN MAPLE ROW CEMETERY.
