HARRIET AGNES DANT WHEELER

HARRIET AGNES DANT, SECOND CHILD IN THE FAMILY OF TWELVE CHILDREN OF ROBERT E. AND ADELINE GATES DANT, WAS BORN IN DAVIS COUNTY, INDIANA, JULY 17, 1860.

IN 1881 THE FAMILY CAME TO RINGGOLD COUNTY, IOWA, AND ON FEBRUARY 7, 1883, SHE WAS MARRIED TO CASSIUS H. WHEELER, AND ESTABLISHED THEIR HOME IN MALOY, IOWA.

LATER THEY MOVED TO A FARM NEAR BEDFORD, IOWA, AND LATER STILL MOVING NEAR MOUNT AYR, IOWA, WHERE THEY HAVE SPENT THEIR REMAINING YEARS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ONE YEAR IN SAN LUCAS, CALIFORNIA, AND TWO YEARS IN LUCAS COUNTY, IOWA.

SEVEN CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THIS UNION, SIX OF WHOM SURVIVE WITH HER HUSBAND, ONE DAUGHTER, LENA MAY, DYING IN INFANCY.

THOSE LEFT TO MOURN HER GOING ARE: MRS. ALICE CAMPBELL OF BUCHANAN, N.D.; MRS. ADDIE MAIN OF THIS CITY; EDWIN OF ELLSTON, IOWA; JOHN OF LINCOLN, NE.; MRS. LINN WOOD OF THIS CITY; AND CHARLES OF HASTINGS, NE.

BESIDES THE FAMILY SHE LEAVES TWO SISTERS, MRS. JOHN GRAY OF MALOY, IOWA AND MRS. ROBERT CAMPBELL OF NUMA, CO., TWO BROTHERS, JAMES DANT OF BENTON, IOWA AND W.P. DANT OF FEDORA, S.D.; TWENTY-SIX GRANDCHILDREN AND FIVE GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN.

HER WORRY OVER HER DECLINING HEALTH FOR THE LAST FEW YEARS AND HER FAILING EYES WERE MORE THAN SHE FELT SHE COULD ENDURE.

SHE WAS A KIND AND LOVING WIFE AND MOTHER AND HER HOME AND CHILDREN WERE ALWAYS FIRST IN HER THOUGHTS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE METHODIST CHURCH FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT 2:30, CONDUCTED BY REV. C. J. HAMILTON, PASTOR OF THE BAPTIST CHURCH, ASSISTED BY T. S. RHOADES. INTERMENT WAS MADE IN THE ROSE HILL CEMETERY.
