JOHN THOMAS GOLLIDAY

JOHN THOMAS GOLLIDAY WAS BORN AT BLOCKTON, IOWA, JANUARY 1, 1878, AND DIED AT HIS HOME IN MOUNT AYR WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 1944, AT THE AGE OF 66 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND 15 DAYS.

ON MARCH 30, 1920 HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO MAE M. SMITH. TO THIS UNION WERE BORN TWO CHILDREN, HAROLD THOMAS, OF BREMERTON, WA.  AND LEATRICE AT HOME.

THE FAMILY ESTABLISHED THEIR HOME IN BLOCKTON, COMING TO MOUNT AYR IN 1926. DURING THE PAST EIGHT YEARS HE HAS BEEN IN DECLINING HEALTH. THE DEVOTED WIFE AND HELPFUL CHILDREN MINISTERED TO HIS EVERY NEED AND CARE. TOM WAS PATIENT IN SUFFERING, UNCOMPLAINING IN WORD AND THOUGHT.

IN EARLY BOYHOOD HE BECAME UNITED WITH THE UNITED BRETHERN CHURCH AT BLOCKTON. HE WAS A DEVOTED HUSBAND AND A KIND FATHER. HE LEAVES MANY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS TO MOURN HIS PASSING.

HIS MOTHER, FATHER AND SISTER PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH. BESIDES HIS WIFE, SON AND DAUGHTER, HE IS SURVIVED BY A HALF BROTHER, HUGH CLARK OF GLENWOOD.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD SUNDAY AFTERNOON, FEBRUARY 20, AT 2:30 O’CLOCK FROM THE RHOADES FUNERAL HOME, CONDUCTED BY THE REV. FRANK MOORE, PASTOR OF THE METHODIST CHURCH. INTERMENT WAS IN ROSE HILL CEMETERY.
