SETH HARDING FOSMIRE

SETH HARDING FOSMIRE, SON OF EZRA AND ELLEN RANDALL FOSMIRE, WAS BORN AT KNOXVILLE, IL., SEPTEMBER 26, 1861 AND DIED AT HIS HOME IN CLEARFIELD, IOWA, FEBRUARY 15, 1944, AT THE AGE OF 82 YEARS FOUR MONTHS AND 19 DAYS. WHEN BUT A LAD OF FOURTEEN HIS FAMILY MOVED TO UNION COUNTY, IOWA, WHERE HE GREW TO MANHOOD.

HE WAS MARRIED JULY 5, 1885, TO CARRIE WOODS AT NEVINVILLE, IOWA. SINCE AGRICULTURE WAS THE CHOSEN WORK OF THIS COUPLE, THEY ESTABLISHED THEIR HOME ON A FARM NEARBY. THREE CHILDREN WERE BORN TO THIS UNION, ONE SON DYING IN INFANCY AND JENNIE ADELAIDE FETT IN JUNE, 1928. GRACE MONATRY, OF CRESTON SURVIVES.

MR. AND MRS. FOSMIRE AND FAMILY MOVED TO RINGGOLD COUNTY IN 1892.  THE WIFE AND MOTHER DIED MAY 20, 1914. MR. FOSMIRE THEN MOVED TO CLEARFIELD WHERE HE CONTINUED TO RESIDE.

ON DECEMBER 19, 1918, HE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO HENRIETTA CHILTON IN KANSAS CITY.

HE UNITED WITH THE METHODIST CHURCH IN 1914 AND AS LONG AS HE WAS ABLE, HE ENJOYED ATTENDING SERVICES. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE MASONIC LODGE. IN BUSINESS HE WAS EVER READY TO GIVE A HELPING HAND WHEN HE WAS NEEDED. HE WAS MAYOR FOR SIX YEARS.

TO CHERISH HIS MEMORY BESIDES THE WIFE AND DAUGHTER, WHO SO KINDLY CARED FOR HIM THROUGH HIS ILLNESS, ARE SIX GRANDCHILDREN, SEVEN GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, ONE BROTHER, JAMES OF SANGER, CA., ONE SISTER, DOROTHY LUFKIN OF GALESBURG, IL., AND OTHER RELATIVES AND FRIENDS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD AT THE METHODIST CHURCH FEBRUARY 17. INTERMENT WAS IN THE CLEARFIELD CEMETERY. THE MASONIC ORDER ATTENDED IN A BODY.
