MARY CORDELIA FINE

MARY CORDELIA FINE, DAUGHTER OF THOMAS JEFFERSON AND MARY CORDELIA CHANDLER, WAS BORN FEBRUARY 7, 1900, NEAR BRENTWOOD, ARK. AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE JANUARY 25, 1969, IN RINGGOLD COUNTY HOSPITAL AT THE AGE OF 68 YEARS 11 MONTHS AND 18 DAYS, FOLLOWING MANY YEARS OF A SERIOUS AND CRIPPLING ILLNESS.

WHEN SHE WAS EIGHT YEARS OF AGE, HER FAMILY MOVED TO ILLINOIS, WHERE SHE SPENT HER CHILDHOOD. IN 1916, HER FAMILY MOVED TO A FARM NEAR LENOX, IOWA.

ON AUGUST 6, 1917, SHE WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE WITH WILLIAM ROY FINE AT CRESTON, AND OF THIS UNION WERE BORN THREE CHILDREN; VERA (MRS. ELMER STARMER) OF DIAGONAL; WAYNE OF PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN AND KENNETH OF DES MOINES.

MR. AND MRS. FINE SPENT THEIR LIFETIME TOGETHER FARMING IN THE CRESTON, KENT AND DIAGONAL AREAS PRIOR TO NOVEMBER 1961 WHEN THE HEALTH OF MR. FINE FORCED THEM TO GIVE UP FARMING. SINCE MARCH, 1965, THE COUPLE HAD RESIDED IN THE CLEARVIEW HOME IN MOUNT AYR.

SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER PARENTS; A SISTER, MYRTLE, AND THREE BROTHERS; FIELDEN, CLARENCE AND THOMAS.

THOSE WHO REMAIN TO CHERISH HER MEMORY AR HER HUSBAND; THREE CHILDREN; A SON-IN-LAW; TWO DAUGHTERS-IN-LAW; SIX GRANDCHILDREN; SIX GREAT  GRANDCHILDREN; FOUR SISTERS, MRS. CORNELIUS BROWN OF DIAGONAL; MRS. BEN WORTMAN OF DENVBER, CO.; MRS. BERTHA BARKER OF CENTRAL CITY , CO; AND MRS. VIRGIL HONEYCUTT OF HAMILTON, MT.; A BROTHER, LLOYD CHANDLER OF SHARPSBURG; A SISTER-IN-LAW, MRS. PEARL CHANDLER OF STEVENSVILLE, MT.; SEVERAL NIECES, NEPHEWS AND A HOST OF FRIENDS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD JANUARY 27 FROM THE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH IN DIAGONAL, CONDUCTED BY THE REVERENDS GEORGE MCMULLEN AND WARD CAMPBELL. BURIAL WAS IN THE DIAGONAL CEMETERY.
