VIRGIL BAXTER JONES

VIRGIL BAXTER JONES, SON OF MARVELLO M. AND MARY JANE STEELE JONES, WAS BORN MAY 1, 1886, NEAR WASHINGTON CENTER, MO., AND PASSED AWAY JANUARY 19, 1969 IN THE HOME OF HIS YOUNGEST DAUGHTER, MRS. EVERETT MORSE, WHERE HE HAD MADE HIS HOME  SINCE JUNE 1ST OF LAST YEAR, AT THE AGE OF 82 YEARS, EIGHT MONTHS AND 18 DAYS.

ON JANUARY 19, 1908, HE WAS MARRIED TO DELLA SMITH AT DENVER, MO. AND OF THIS UNION WERE BORN FOUR CHILDREN- VIRGIE (MRS. GERALD MAGEE), REDDING; WESLEY JONES AND OPAL (MRS. EVERETT MORSE), LAMONI, AND ARLENE (MRS. GEORGE KIMBLE), SAVANNAH, MO.

MANY YEARS AGO HE JOINED THE MATKINS MISSOURI METHODIST CHURCH. HE HAD BEEN QUITE POORLY THE LAST MONTH.

HE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HIS WIFE ON SEPTEMBER 22, 1956; HIS PARENTS, SEVERAL SISTERS AND BROTHERS AND THREE GRANDDAUGHTERS.

SURVIVORS ARE HIS CHILDREN; THREE SONS-IN-LAW; ONE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW; 18 GRANDCHILDREN; 20 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; TWO BROTHERS, THURMAN JONES, LINCOLN, NE. AND TONY JONES, WASHINTON CENTER, MO., AND SEVERAL NIECES AND NEPHEWS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WERE HELD JANUARY 23, FROM THE PRUGH-DUNFEE FUNEARL CHAPEL, CONDUCTED BY THE REV. JERROLD SWINTON. MUSIC WAS PROVIDED BY MRS. HARRISON LINK, VOCALIST, AND MARGARET PENCE, ORGANIST. CASKETBEARERS WERE ELDON AMBROSE, DALE MAGEE, LEROY MORSE, WESLEY JONES, JR. ROBERT BENNETT, VIRGIL ABORN, CARL KIMBLE AND DAVID THURMAN. BURIAL WAS IN THE ROSE HILL CEMETERY AT MOUNT AYR.
