Ruby Naomi Anderson – January 19, 1921-September 15, 2009

Ruby Naomi Anderson was born on a farm five miles south of Mount Ayr, Iowa on January 19, 1921 to L. Earl Anderson and Lena Arlena Saltzman Anderson.
When Ruby was three months old, her mother died and Ruby stayed with her grandparents, Simon and Anna Saltzman, until she was five years old. After her father remarried, Ruby was raised by her father and stepmother. Ruby attended country school and graduated from Mount Ayr high school in 1938.
Ruby has always lived in Ringgold county. She was employed as a waitress in several different local restaurants. Ruby passed away on September 15, 2009 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Mildred Rogers Anderson; four brothers, Victor Anderson, Robert Anderson, Elton Anderson and a brother in infancy, and two sisters, Anna M. Worthington and a sister in infancy.
Ruby is survived by a brother, Chester Anderson of Indianola, Iowa; sister, Marilyn (Robert) Rose of Kingman, Arizona, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Thursday, September 17, 2009, with Rev. Edward Shields officiating. Musical selections were ‘In The Garden’ and ‘Peace in the Valley.’
Ruby was laid at rest in the Oakland Cemetery southeast of Mount Ayr.
