William “Joe” Barber – August 5, 1983-September 13, 2009

 William ‘Joe’ Barber, 26, of Creston, Iowa, formerly of Osceola, Iowa, died Sunday, September 13, 2009, from injuries sustained in a car accident south of Stuart in Adair county. Services will be 1 p.m., Friday, September 18, at Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service, Creston, Iowa.  Pastor Orville ‘Butch’ Black, Jr. of Mount Ayr will officiate. Interment will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Open visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 17. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday evening at Pearson-Coen-Beaty Family Funeral Service of Creston.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family. William ‘Joe’ Daniel Joseph Barber, the son of William Eugene Barber and Toni Kay Jacobson, was born on August 5, 1983 at Creston, Iowa. Joe married Karen JoLynn Zimmerman on November 29, 2003 at Prescott, Iowa.  Joe lived the majority of his life in Osceola. He also lived in Ellston near Grand River, Mount Ayr and in Dexter, Missouri prior to moving to Creston approximately five years ago. 

Joe was currently a student at S.W.C.C. studying auto body repair. Previously Joe drove a semi over the road for Big and Small Trucking. He also performed small jobs such as auto mechanics and fencing. Joe was a member of the Creston Church of Christ. He never knew a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand.  

Left to cherish Joe’s memory are his wife, Karen Barber of Creston, Iowa; his four children, Shelby, Wyatt and Kal Barber, all of Creston, Iowa and Patience Sanders of Lineville, Iowa; his mother,  Toni (husband Greg) Black of Osceola, Iowa; his father, Bill Barber of Murray, Iowa and fiance Heather Wallace of Murray, Iowa; his brothers, Wayne (wife) Jessica Barber of Madrid, Iowa and Dalton (wife Bonnie) Barber of Chariton, Iowa; stepbrother, Evahn Wallace of Murray, Iowa; Jamie Black of Osceola, Iowa; his sister, Shyla (husband Dusty) Harper of Afton, Iowa; stepsisters, Angie (husband Josh) Blades of Leon, Iowa, Niki Black of Corning, Iowa, Stacia Black of Osceola, Iowa and Preslee Wallace of Murray, Iowa; his mother-in-law, Denise Moore of Creston, Iowa; father-in-law, Steve (wife Shelley) Zimmerman of Creston, Iowa; grandmother, Elizabeth Jacobson of Des Moines, Iowa; grandmother-in-law, Edna Page of Creston, Iowa; grandfather-in-law, Leonard (Sharon) Page of Kent, Iowa; brother-in-law, Rusty (wife Amanda) Zimmerman of Riley, Kansas; sister-in-law, Jami (husband) Ronn Vandevender of Prescott, Iowa; seven nephews; seven nieces, and several cousins, aunts and uncles.

Preceding Joe in death were his maternal grandfather, Richard Jacobson; his paternal grandparents, Wayne and Janice Barber; his great-grandparents, Walter and Isabelle Barber; his maternal great-grandparents, Marie and Warnie Neal; his sister-in-law, Kali Moore, and his cousin, Brooke Barber.

    I will never forget the memories I had with you. You were such a kind, loving man. I was just a kid when you left us. But you made such an impact. I love you Joe.
