Elmer Carter Wolf July 30, 1921 – April 4, 2010

Elmer Carter Wolf, son of Edith (Carter) Wolf and John Wolf, was born July 30, 1921 at Ogden, Iowa. He graduated from Ogden high school in 1939. On October 14, 1946, he was married to Mary Jeanette Staebler in Ogden. While living in Boone county, he worked for the local ASCS office in addition to farming. In 1973 they moved to a farm northeast of Diagonal. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Elmer passed away on April 4, 2010 at Clearview Home in Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanette, in 2003; children, Pam Posner and Kent Wolf; brothers, Lawrence, Lloyd and Jerry Wolf, and a sister, Mildred Samuelson.

Survivors include his children, Eileen Stephens of Arlington, Texas, Rick (Cindy) Wolf of Diagonal, Iowa, Marle Wolf of Iowa City, Iowa and Jane Perkins of Diagonal, Iowa; grandchildren, Mary and Cathie Stephens, James (Mary) Bybee, Jon (Ashley) Bybee, Cariell Perkins, Trevor Wolf and Whitney Wolf, and one great-grandson, Seth Bybee. 

A memorial fund has been established in his name to be decided later. Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr was in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial mass was held at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church,  Mount Ayr on Friday, April 9, 2010, with Father Glen Wilwerding officiating. Musicians were Peggy Worthington and Judy Cunning.

Honorary pallbearers were James Bybee, Jon Bybee, Cariell Perkins, Trevor Wolf and Whitney Wolf.

Committal service was performed at Sts. Peter & Paul Cemetery in  Gilbert on Saturday, April 10, 2010, by Fr. Dennis Miller.
