Margaret A. “Maggie” Gates December 28, 1955 – May 7, 2011

  Margaret A. ‘Maggie’ Gates, 55, of Diagonal, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston. Memorial services were Wednesday, May 11, 2011, at Powers Funeral Home junction of Highways 34 and 25 in Creston.  Rev. Joseph Pins officiated.  Burial was at Union Cemetery near Diagonal. Margaret Ann Gates, daughter of Oral Dean Utterback and Katherine J. (Richardson) Utterback, was born on Dec. 28, 1955 in Creston, Iowa. She graduated from Creston high school in 1974. She went on to study at Southwestern Community College in Creston.  On April 16, 1992, Maggie married Glen Gates in Las Vegas, Nevada. They settled near Diagonal and worked in the Creston area. 

Maggie was a homemaker. She also had worked at K-Mart and most recently at Gits Mfg. of Creston. 

Survivors include her husband, Glen Gates of Diagonal, Iowa; two nephews, Caleb Utterback of Church Hill, Tennessee and Jacob Miller of Virginia Beach, Virginia; two sisters, Mary (husband Tom) Long of Stockton, Missouri and Melinda (husband Tom) Healey of Bowling Green, Kentucky; father and mother-in-law, Al and Mary Jean Gates of Creston, Iowa; a brother-in-law, Alan (wife Nancy) Gates of Creston, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Marian Grant of Madrid, Iowa and several other nieces and nephews. 

Maggie was preceded in death by her parents.
