LEROY WAYNE WOOD

LeRoy Wayne Wood, son of Donald and Pauline (Gray) Wood, was born on June 14, 1938, at his grandparent’s homestead outside of Ellston, IA. He passed from this life on March 23, 2023, in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico (his paradise). He attended and graduated from Ellston High School in 1957. In May of 1957, he married Sue Richards, and four children were born to this union: Stephen Lee, Sheri Ann, Lorinda Lou and Scott Alan.
In 1984, he was united in marriage to Sandra Ambrose and had the honor of gaining two more children, Omer M and Safiye Mae Adli.
LeRoy was a lifetime farmer who had the honor of farming alongside his father for several years. He was an area seed salesman for over 60 years. He worked for Funk Seed, PAG, DEF, Crow and NuTech over the years, and traveling and meeting all the area farmers was one of the absolute highlights of his work. He enjoyed his mornings with the coffee crew, any time happy hours and the Bloody Mary Sunday mornings with anyone that would join him. He really looked forward to his golf outings with friends and family; he was a member of the Mount Ayr, Sun Valley and Leon Country Clubs. His main pride and joy were his John Deere tractors. LeRoy lived his life to the fullest and never knew a stranger.
LeRoy was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Pauline Wood; his in-laws, Walter and Thelma Ambrose; his brother, Kenneth Wood; brothers-in-law, Jim Jobe, Lynn Sickels and Lincoln Jackson, nephews, Jeff Jobe, Kevin O’Mailia and Bobby Pottorff and close family friend, Ruby Grose.
