Several area fireworks displays will be lighting up the sky in celebration of Independence Day.
In Mount Ayr, you can expect to see fireworks launched from Loch Ayr Lake on Sunday, July 2 at dusk (around 9:30 p.m.).
Sun Valley Lake Association is also planning to set off fireworks for community members on Sunday, July 2.
The Clearfield Lions Club is kicking off their “Freedom & Fireworks” celebration with a home run derby on Sunday, July 2 at the ball field. Adults start the derby at 4:00, followed by a high school game at 5:00, and kids 15 and under will play at 6:00 p.m. Contact Chris Leonard at 402-650-1557 for more information.
New this year, Clearfield is also hosting a 5K Glow Run at 9:00 p.m. on Sunday July 2. Starting from the Clearfield Lions Hall, the event is a fundraiser for the 4th of July Celebration. Participants can register ahead of time, or the day of the event starting at 7:00 p.m.

There will be a truck and tractor pull on Monday, July 3 in Clearfield starting at 7:00 p.m. The event is sanctioned by the Northwest Missouri Tractor Pullers Association. For more information, call Bill Larsen at 641-425-9322.
The Clearfield 70th Annual 4th of July Celebration then begins the day with sandlot volleyball in the park at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Contact Daniel Leonard at 641-344-9885 for more information.
At 10:00 a.m. on July 4, Clearfield is hosting a lawnmower, garden tractor, and mini-rod pull sanctioned by Ringgold County Garden Tractor Pullers Association. Contact Richard Swank at 641-785-2353 for information.
The afternoon fun continues in the Clearfield park with a baby contest at 1:00 p.m., followed by kids games at 2:00 p.m.
A bags tournament will begin at 4:00 p.m. Contact Shain Sites to register your team at 642-820-1110 or stop in to Bootleggers Bar & Grill from 3:00-4:00 p.m.
The Clearfield United Methodist Church will be serving pie and ice cream inside the Clearfield Lions Hall beginning at 5:30 p.m., and the gigantic parade will start at 6:30 p.m.
The 70th annual Clearfield Lions Club celebration will conclude with a fireworks show at 10:15 p.m on Tuesday, July 4. See ad for more details.
