Mt. Ayr 59, SWV 44
A low scoring affair in Mount Ayr last Friday night saw the Raiderettes come out with a victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Sam Stewart led the way with 28 points, making 11-of-27 buckets and hitting five-of-11 freethrows and nine steals on the night.
The game was close throughout the night, with Mount Ayr making marginal gains throughout.
The Raiderettes had trouble at the free throw line, however, hitting 11-of-21 at the line. The girls also sank four-of-15 from beyond the arc.
“We did a lot of nice things tonight,” said coach Thad Streit. “We played well in spurts. Our defense created a lot of havoc and we did a good job of adjusting our defense as the game progressed. We got a lot of shots that we wanted but just couldn’t quite get to the free throw line a little more.”
The Raiderettes faced Lenox on Tuesday night, but the game had not been played in time for press. They face Southeast Warren on Friday, December 13 and will tip off at 6 p.m. Those games will appear in next week’s Record-News.
