Mount Ayr Preservation, Inc. saw the need to replace the old windows in the 140-year-old one-room school that is restored and displayed on the Ringgold County Fairgrounds.
We received a bid to replace needed windows with new wind- and water-resistant windows.
We applied for a grant from the South Central Iowa Community Foundation, and we were awarded a 77.5 percent grant toward window replacement.
With the help of the Fair Board, we now have pledges to cover all but $240 of the installation costs.
