The Raiderettes hosted the fifth ranked Nodaway Valley Wolverines January 5.
The Wolverines came into the contest at 7-0 and left 8-0 after defeating the Raiderettes 64-44.
The Raiderettes led the Wolverines after the first quarter, 10-8, but fell behind heading into halftime after the Wolverines outscored Mount Ayr 25-17.
The Wolverines press proved troublesome in the second half for Mount Ayr as Nodaway Valley extended its lead.
“I thought we did a great job and we did what we were supposed to do in the first half but we got into foul trouble, it was touchy, both teams had foul trouble,” said coach Thad Streit. “We were down six at halftime and we came out the third quarter and we got down.

Mount Ayr had 18 fouls on the night, while Nodaway Valley committed 23.
Leading the Raiderette offense was Alexa Anderson with 10 points followed by Channler Henle with nine.
“I thought we did a good job of guarding them and taking awaytheir best players,” said coach Streit. “That third quarter killed us. We had a lot of turnovers and a lot of awful shots.”
The Raiderettes shot 42 percent from the field and only sank two-of-10 three’s on the night while also making 53 percent of free throws.
Nodaway Valley protected the ball well, allowing Mount Ayr to steal only twice and recording 14 steals, themselves.

The Raiderettes traveled to Bedford last Friday to attempt to bounce back after a big loss to Nodaway Valley.
The Raiderettes stunned the Bulldogs putting up 18 points while only allowing four points.
