Enclosed is my check for renewing my subscription to the Record News and for the 2021 Plat Maps of Ringgold County, Iowa.
Often where I read the paper and see names of people in the county, I want to know where they live and where their farms are located. Names I remember when I was growing up there in 1940-1958 – are what is now “the Brammer” farm, my sister, Belle, and our second cousin, Phyllis, who lived in Des Moines, would ride the train from Delphos to Grant, City, MO to spend a week with our great-grandmother, Susie Nye. She lived three blocks from the Grant City Square so Belle got to experience “town life” for a week.
I do enjoy Mike Avitt’s column, and the 100 years, 75 years, etc column’s so many names I remember and often my relatives, Sickels, and my husband’s relatives of Mosier and Lesan are mentioned.
Our weather here has been mild so far this winter but our snowiest months are yet to come.
