Mt Ayr 2, CD 1
It was the end of the road for the Raiderettes Friday night as they squared off against a heavy hitting Interstate-35 Roadrunner team.
Before the loss to Interstate-35, Mount Ayr made it through a tough Central Decatur team with home runs by Addy Reynolds and senior Alexa Anderson.
The Raiderettes collected nine runs against the Cardinals, all singles, besides the two homers.
Mount Ayr’s fielding was spotless with 21 putouts, seven assists and 28 total chances.
Reynolds was in the circle for Mount Ayr, pitching a complete game, allowing one run off five hits and walking two, while striking out 10 batters.
The Cardinals pitched Kylee Rockhold who allowed two runs on nine hits and struck out five, while walking one.
The Cardinals committed two errors in the field and putout 18 with five assists on 25 total chances.
Central Decatur didn’t lay down at the plate either, recording five hits and one run.
“I’ve been on our girls about making the play to turn our team around and Halsie Barnes made it tonight,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “That line drive catch at first took the momentum from them and gave it to us. Alexa Anderson made a couple outstanding plays at short stop.”
The win would advance the Raiderettes to the next round against Interstate-35.
