Details concerning the settlement between former sheriff’s deputy Bo Greene and Ringgold County, Jefferson County, and the City of Fairfield have been released.
According to the Ringgold County board of supervisors, the county’s financial contribution to the settlement amounted to the $2,000 deductible for its liability insurance policy.
In urging the county to settle the claims filed by Greene, the insurance carrier paid the remainder of the county’s 25 percent share ($81,250) of the $325,000 awarded to Greene in the settlement.
The settlement stems from an action filed by Greene with the Iowa Civil Rights Commission and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission citing workplace discrimination and other claims.
Ringgold County, the City of Fairfield, and Jefferson County have disclaimed any wrongdoing whatsoever against Greene.
No further details were released.
