The slate of candidates has been announced for the June 7 primary election.
On the Republican side, three individuals are running to earn their party’s nomination to fill one position on the county board of supervisors: Marla Crawford, Rodney Shields, and Randy Taylor.
(Current supervisor Ron Landphair is not seeking re-election.)
Incumbent Republican county attorney Clint Spurrier and Republican county treasurer Debra Cannon are running unopposed for their party’s nomination.
Only one name appears on the Democratic primary ballot – incumbent county recorder Kisha Martin.
The primary election is held for members of the political parties to nominate candidates for the general election. Currently, there are two political parties in Iowa: The Democratic Party and the Republican Party. Winners of the primary election will have their names automatically placed on the general election ballot.
Eligible electors must be registered either Democrat or Republican and vote only that ballot in a Primary Election.
