Besides hiring Josh Vanderflught as the new 7-12 principal, the Mount Ayr Community Schools board of directors made other significant decisions at their special meeting held Wednesday, April 27
Budget
Of interest to property owners in the Mount Ayr school district, the board approved the budget for the 2022-2023 school year.
It was noted the levy for next year’s budget is nearly $1 lower than the current levy, dropping from $13.41 per $1,000 in valuation to $12.39 per $1,000.
Personnel
The board approved the hiring of several staff members:
• Annie Uhlenkamp will transfer from Title I to 3rd grade teacher;
• Riley Kaufman – elementary;
• Andrew Nicholl – elementary and assistant high school football coach;
• Roshida Wells – Title I;
• Paula Sholl – upper elementary;
• Isaac Vos – assistant high school football (Vos is already under contract as the new high school social studies teacher).
The board accepted resignations from elementary teachers Mariah Mason and Sarah Fountain and K-12 vocal director John Calahan.
The board approved raising the wage of building secretaries to a base of $18.26 per hour plus single insurance.
