Mount Ayr 69, Wayne 31
The Raiders took care of business last week, downing the Wayne Falcons to improve to 6-0 on the season.
The victory was fueld by a Jaixen Frost 24 point game in which Frost was good on 10-of-14 buckets.
Braydon Pierson added 12 points on the night to help the Raiders achieve victory, while seven other Raiders saw points in the game.
“We talked about this one, to make sure we survive the step. You never want to overlook someone,” said coach Bret Ruggles. “Respect All, Fear None has always been our motto and I thought we did a great job of that tonight.”
The Raiders didn’t allow a Falcon point in the first quarter, leading 12-0 after the first eight minutes.
The second quarter saw the Falcons add 10 points, however, the Raiders scored 27 to keep a big lead heading into halftime.
“They were loving that we gave up zero points in 10 minutes. It was 10 minutes before they [Wayne] finally got a free throw,” said Ruggles. “They made two buckets all first half, defensively that’s outstanding, but we will find better offenses, but if you can guard like that you can make it very difficult.”
The Raiders continued to work on the Falcons in the second half taking a 56-23 lead headed into the final eight minutes.
The Mount Ayr bench saw action in the final quarter, where they were able to outscore the Falcons 13-8 and secure the win for the Raiders.
