Robert Edward Bernhardt
Robert Edward Bernhardt was born on August 3, 1945, in Queens, New York to Milton and Margaret Weber Bernhardt. He departed this life on May 4, 2024, at his home in Carrollton, Texas.
While growing up in the New York City area, he was active in the Boy Scouts and its’ brotherhood, Order of the Arrow. He became an Eagle Scout shortly after graduating from high school. When his sons started Boy Scouts, he was active in assisting with the troop activities and summer camp. He was pleased that they also became Eagle Scouts.
After graduating from Archbishop Molloy High School in New York, he attended the University of Dayton (Ohio), receiving Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering. After working for a few years at the National Cash Register in Dayton, he moved to Marshalltown, Iowa and worked for Fisher Controls Company.
It was in Iowa that he met his future wife, Jean Pool. They were married on November 29, 1975, in Newton, Iowa. A few years later, their first son, Kevin, was born. Shortly after that they moved to the Dallas, Texas area where they have lived for the past 45 years. After the move to the Dallas area, another son, Nathan, was born.
He retired in 2011 after over 44 years in the Engineering/Computer Science fields.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Patricia Burke and Margaret Dwyer and his brother, Richard Bernhardt, his siblings all younger than he.
Funeral services were held at the Dalton & Son Funeral Home in Lewisville, Texas on May 9, 2024. The burial was in the Old Hall Cemetery in Lewisville.
