Jimmie Henry Pearce, son of Charles Henry & Elsie (Brooner) Pearce, was born February 14, 1933, on the same farm where he lived the majority of his life and raised his own family.
On March 7, 1955, Jim was united in marriage to Arlene Thurman. To this marriage, five children were born: Sally, Jimmie, Keith, David, and Randy.
Jim was a lifelong farmer and jack of all trades. He did mechanical work and was always tinkering with something. Jim built the house they lived in and many of the sheds on their farm. He milked cows and loved to fish and hunt coons.
Jim and Arlene loved to set up and sell at flea markets. They enjoyed going to Colony, MO, where they made many friends over their years there while staying in a camper in between weekend flea markets.
In 2013, Jim and Arlene moved into Mount Ayr. He enjoyed growing tomatoes, feeding the birds, and watching tractor sales on TV. He also enjoyed playing cards with family members who would stop for a visit.
Jim passed away June 13, 2024, while a resident of the Mount Ayr Health Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Jimmy, and his 4 sisters and their husbands.
Survivors include his wife Arlene Pearce; children Sally (Butch) Schweedler of Pattonsburg, MO, Keith (Beverly) Pearce of Murray, IA, David (Theresa) Pearce of Mount Ayr, Randy (Kitty) Pearce of Morgan City, LA; daughter-in-law Charlotte; 11 grandchildren Jeff Schweedler, Steven Schweedler, Paul Schweedler, Nicole Begley, Shondel Zollman, Brandon Pearce, Mike Pearce, Mark Pearce, Megan Pearce, Lee Pearce, Greg Pearce; numerous great grandchildren; 1 great great grandchild; nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Services were held 10:00 a.m. – Tuesday, June 18, 2024, at Armstrong Funeral Home
