Stephen Gail Fletcher

Stephen Gail Fletcher, son of Everett Troy & Alice Alcista (Wimer) Fletcher, was born December 26, 1953, at Mount Ayr, Iowa.
Steve, better known as Fluff, grew up in the Diagonal community. He graduated from Diagonal High School in 1972. Fluff moved to Colorado and worked out there before returning back to Iowa. While in Iowa, he enlisted in the US Navy and served his country. After his discharge, Fluff again returned to Colorado to live before returning back to Iowa in 1986, where he lived the remainder of his life.
Steve and Jolene Thurman began a lifelong relationship together in 2010. On August 6, 2022, at the pond where memories were made, they were united in marriage. Steve & Jolene were inseparable through the years they were together. Steve loved to have Jolene travel with him, and they visited so many places together.
Steve was a father figure to Cory & Miranda. In 1988, his son, Tracy, was born. Tracy and his dad remained very close throughout his life. They did all things together and on August 24, 2017, they entered into a partnership for some land north of Creston. They had a pond built on it and enjoyed life, making memories. Fluff had a passion for all things outdoor. He loved to fish, hunt, and camp at the pond. Fluff taught Tracy and countless others how to fish and hunt. Fluff was a hardworking man with huge hands, but he also showed a tender side to many. He was a protector and a provider.
Fluff worked hard all of his life. He owned and operated a dump truck in Kansas City and then worked as a hazard’s material handler for Jeff French and most recently for Kenny Davenport. Fluff worked hard right up to the end, often gone for the weekdays but home on weekends. He traveled the Midwest and was dedicated to his job. Fluff had started to help Tracy the last couple of weeks with his new land management business and looked forward to helping this spring and summer.
Fluff endured health issues, and he passed away suddenly on December 23, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Stephanie Gail; brothers Larry, John, David, Ed, Charlie; sister Karen Magee; sister-in-law Roxie Fletcher; brother-in-law Ronnie Bird.
