Phillip Dan Stamper died December 24, 2024, at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Phillip was born October 19, 1931, to Grant Albert and Mildred Pearl (Keller) Stamper on a farm on the old “High and Dry”, Ringold County, near Diagonal, Iowa. He was educated in the Diagonal School, graduating with the Class of 1950. He played basketball and baseball and loved singing in the choir and quartet. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
He married Mary Margaret Jezek on 19 November 1952 and entered the U.S. Air Force in March 1952, retiring in February 1975.
He continued to work as a contractor on the Defense Early Warning System in Canada and Alaska, and finally, as a Satellite Controller in Colorado Springs.
He was an active member of the East United Methodist Church in Colorado Springs, serving as a trustee spending many hours maintaining the church and grounds, singing in the choir and other activities.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald, Doyle and cousins. He was survived by his sister Guelda Barker, wife Mary, sons Wayne (Becky), Gary, Bruce (Debra), Carl (Karen), seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10 a.m. 25 April at the East United Methodist Church, 1505 East Monument St., Colorado Springs, CO 80909.
Phillip will be interned at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery in Colorado Springs following the service.
