Margaret Louise Pacha Swank died February 7, 2025. She was born April 15, 1922, to Alfred and Avis Benson Pacha at home, northwest of Diagonal, Ringgold County, Iowa.
Margaret graduated in 1939 from Diagonal School and worked in homes after graduation until she was married to Raymond Swank of Kellerton, on May 4, 1940. They were the parents of four children: Merle Lee, Carolyn Kay, Donald Dean, and Gary Wayne.
They lived in rural Ringgold County until moving to Lenox, Iowa in 1950. In 1954, she began working at Sheridan Egg Plant where she worked for 40 years before retiring.
Her favorite time was getting the family together and playing cards and games. She taught all the grandkids how to play Rummy. Margaret entered Mount Ayr Health Care Center in July 2021 and resided there until her passing. She loved to sit in her chair watching traffic go by and visiting with people. She was always up for a game of Bingo.
Preceding Margaret in death were her husband, Raymond, in 1980; son Donald in 1987; her parents; son-in-law Dr. Ken Longfellow; her younger sisters Dorothy Keller (Robert); Phyllis Hogue (Clyde), Mary Ann Gardner; brothers & sisters-in-law Lawrence (Wilma) Swank, Lyle (Georgine) Swank, Robert Swank, Bill (Lorrayne) Swank, Glen Swank, and Marion Swank Hervey.
Surviving Margaret are her children Merle (Barb) Swank of Lenox, IA, Carolyn (Wayne) Wilson of Mount Ayr, IA, Gary Swank of Lenox, IA; grandchildren Jody Longfellow, Bobbi Gagliano, Kristi Sackett, Kendra Swank, Kylene Simpson, Kirk Swank, Luke Swank, Clint Swank, Danny Swank, Nickie Swank; twenty-two great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren; brother-in-law Dean (Jackie) Gardner; many nieces and nephews and friends. Memorials are in her name to be decided. Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Armstrong Funeral Home – Mount Ayr, Iowa. Casketbearers included Jody Longfellow, Luke Swank, Clint Swank, Kirk Swank, Danny Swank, Tom Sackett, Cody Simpson, John Gagliano. Honorary Pallbearers were Kristi Sackett, Nickie Swank, Bobbi Gagliano, Kylene Simpson, Kendra Swank, Ashly Green, Emilee Ketterman, Harper Gagliano, Noah Gagliano, Raines Sackett, Mya Sackett, Rowan Sackett, Kiersten Swank, Dominic Gooch, Hunter Simpson, Dylan Simpson, Ashton Simpson, Kade Simpson, Gabby Swank, Shae Swank, Brenden Swank, Brodie Swank, Gracie Swank, Emma Swank, Hudson Swank, Henzley Swank, Amelia Acuri, Nora Ketterman, Maylani Hickman, Sweeney Green. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery in Mount Ayr, Iowa.
