Obituary: DONALD EDWIN THOMPSON

Donald Edwin Thompson, age 84, passed away on June 16, 2023, at home in La Feria, Texas.  He was born on October 22, 1938, in Mount Ayr, Iowa and lived a life marked by dedication, service and love for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Cleone Thompson, brothers Larry and Bill Thompson and sister Joann Boots and spouse Nick Fondurulia.
Donald proudly served in the United States Air Force and then the Federal Aviation Administration for a combined forty years and nine months.  His service included tours of duty in Korea, Vietnam, Germany and many locations in the United States. His integrity and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on all who knew him.
Donald found joy in life’s simple pleasures – camping, traveling, Padre Island beach visits and most of all, spending time with those he loved.  A devoted loving father, spouse and friend, he is survived by his daughters:  Kris (Mark) Parrish, Katrina (Alan) Davis, and Kimberly (Chad) Clough and their mother Janet Dahline.  Grandchildren Erin (Keith) Kramer, Kelly (Kenny) Kenfield, Jade (Cody) Nichols, Cody Davis, Jessica Paull, Zachary (Rachel) Paull and Spencer Clough.  Great grandchildren: Kendall Kenfield; Isaiah, Oliver and Tate Kramer; Zeek Davis; Leighton, Ryden and Aleister Nichols and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A graveside memorial service will be held on July 26th in Mount Ayr Iowa at 10:00 a.m., where he will be laid to rest. After the service a light lunch will be served at the American Legion.
Donald’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
