Obituary: Yvonne Andrew
Yvonne Marie (Roland) Andrew of rural Grand River, Iowa, passed away January 25, 2026, in Hospice Care, Mount Ayr, Iowa, and is with her Lord Jesus in heaven.
Visitation will be held at Trinity Christian Church, Hwy 2, Decatur, Iowa on Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a service beginning at 11a.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will follow in the Trinity Hills Cemetery. Memorials are to Amanda the Panda for Grieving Children. Yvonne was born February 9, 1938, to Marion “Bunk” and Helen (Adair) Roland in Iowa City, Iowa. Yvonne was raised in Leon, Iowa by hard-working and Christian parents, in a family of 6 girls.
On June 11, 1955, Francis and Yvonne were united in marriage at the Leon Brethren Church. Francis and Yvonne were raised in the Brethren Church and had a faithful relationship with the Lord. Frank and Yvonne had 2 daughters: Kathy and Karla.
Yvonne and her family had a love of music with the 6 girls learning to harmonize in childhood. Yvonne had an ear for the piano and she was gifted by God with her abilities. Her parents sacrificed to make sure Yvonne had piano lessons.
Yvonne went on to earn “Superior” ratings in her piano recitals and was recognized in the Leon Community as a talented pianist.
At the age of 14, Yvonne became the pianist at Leon Brethren Church. She played at church for all Brethren services, and special music for many years. Her talent for the piano was Yvonne’s ministry and gift in every church Frank and Yvonne attended.
At all family gatherings, Yvonne played the piano, and her sisters, parents, and other family members sang and clapped to any song yelled out from the old hymnals. They are our best family memories and a special connection and bond we all still share.
Yvonne was our loving and fiercely protective mother. We absorbed her love of Jesus, music, art, and silliness from our Mom and Nin.
Yvonne is survived by daughters Kathy (Merrill) Hamilton and Karla (Randy) Maxwell; grandsons Hiram (Samantha) Maxwell, Taylor (Stephanie) Andrew; great grandchildren Brooklyn, Braelyn, Bryce Andrew and Ellie Maxwell; sisters Sarah Ann Riggs and Marian Grimm. Yvonne is also survived by many other family members.
Yvonne was preceded in death by her husband Frank Andrew; parents “Bunk” and Helen Roland; sisters Arthela Parrish, Niada McFarland, Iona Taylor; sisters-in-law Jeannie Dale and Judy Hutchinson. Yvonne was also preceded in death by several other in-laws, nieces and nephews.
