Former Iowa Governor Tom Vilsack visited Mount Ayr High School on Monday as a guest of the school’s Ag Department. Gov. Vilsack shared with students his insights about the World Food Prize. The World Food Prize is currently featuring our very own alumni, Peggy Whitson, as their honoree for March 2026.
The World Food Prize Foundation, based out of Des Moines, recognizes and rewards individuals making exceptional achievements in addressing food security. The foundation looks to inspire and recognize exceptional students in Iowa, in the U.S. and around the world by providing educational and professional experiences on pressing food security and agriculture issues; and addressing Iowa’s challenges and successes in fighting hunger and poverty through the Iowa Hunger Summit and Directory.
