Mount Ayr girls earn five first-place finishes at meet

EARLHAM, Iowa – The Raiderettes track and field team showed up and showed out at the Earlham co-ed meet last Tuesday. The Mount Ayr girls won a team high five events at the meet and though there were no team scores kept, they would have won the meet.
The five winning events came from the high jump and shot put in field events, the 200-meter and 400-meter dash events and the Raiderettes 4×400-meter relay team.
Mount Ayr was scheduled to be back on the track on April 7 at Panorama (results were not available as of press time) and again on Thursday at the Clarinda Invitational.
In field events, Aubree Shields won the high jump with a top jump of 5-feet, 6-inches. That distance is currently the best jump in the Pride of Iowa Conference. Payton Worthington also added a first place finish in the shot put with a top throw of 33-feet, 4 inches. Chloe Robb, Emily Knox and Adley Dredge also had top-10 field event finishes.
Emma Reynolds had a great meet winning two individual events, placing second in another and was a member of the winning 4×400-meter relay team. Reynolds won the 200-meter dash in a time of 26.31, which is currently leading the POI in the event. Reynolds also won the 400-meter dash in 1:00.89. Reynolds was the runner-up in the 100-meter dash in 13.08. That time is currently second in the POI.
Robb placed third in the 200-meter dash in 27.51 and that time is currently third in the POI. Other top-10 finishes in individual events were from Tatum Friedrich in the 800-meter run, Shields in the 100-meter dash, Ryley Greenwell in the 400-meter dash, Addison Doolittle in the 800-meter run and Ashlyn Byer in the 1,500-meter run.
Reynolds anchored the Raiderettes winning 4×400-meter relay that won in a time of 4:18.77. Shields, Friedrich and Kate Newton were also on the relay team. The Mount Ayr sprint medley relay team of Robb, Worthington, Kate Newton and Friedrich placed third in a time of 1:59.45.
