MOUNT AYR, Iowa — In what has become an annual event and not just a rallying call, the Nobody Fights Alone annual Breast Cancer Awareness Style Show will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday May 3 at the First Christian Church in Mount Ayr.
The style show, which features women modeling clothing, also has women giving their own breast cancer testimonials. Clothes for the style show are provided by Snyder’s in Humeston, who has been part of the event since its inception. The Style Show will also feature a silent auction.
“It’s just been a very heartwarming, just a good fellowship,” said Cindy Glazebrook, who is one of the event’s organizers.
Glazebrook, who is also a cancer survivor herself, said that she and Mitzi Hymbaugh helped start the style show to raise money to help breast cancer patients in area hospitals and provide them with gift cards and other items to help them in their battle.
“Of course it just touched my heart because what I’ve seen people go through, and what could we do that would just bring a little more easement to them, a little more joy?” Glazebrook said.
During this past Christmas season a Christmas Home Tour was held to help raise funds for the upcoming style event as well as to help provide support to women battling cancer in Ringgold, Union and Decatur counties.
For more information about the event or to make silent auction or monetary donations, contact Hymbaugh at 641-340-4175 or Glazebrook at 641-414-7317.
All proceeds from the style show benefit women battling breast cancer in the four-county region.
