MOUNT AYR, Iowa- The city of Mount Ayr welcomed county fair attendees from near and far for its annual Ringgold County Fair festivities. The fair kicked off on Tuesday, July 7 and lasted through Sunday July 12. The Ringgold County Future Farmers of America (FFA) along with the local chapter of the 4-H kicked off the fair with the theme of “Ag Pride County Wide” Events got underway with the crowning of the Rodeo Queen and Princess and concluded on Sunday with a primary livestock championship recognition. There was a little something for everyone at this the 167th rendition of this beloved event. There was live entertainment along with a wonderful rodeo and the requisite demolition derby followed by a high flying motocross race. Inside Homestead Hall, fair goers were treated to a “baby contest” various static displays of local arts and crafts and of course delicious food throughout the event. Mother nature cooperated all through the week affording perfect, if not a bit hot, weather allowing all events to go on as scheduled. Congrats to all show participants and a special congratulation to the event winners. The fair is a treat for the attendees, but tons of work for the FFA and 4-H participants. Well done and thanks.
