MOUNT AYR, Iowa — The Raiderette volleyball program hosted a tournament this past weekend where there were teams making up two pools with bracket play to follow. Mount Ayr played in the Red Pool with Interstate-35 and Martensdale-St. Mary’s. The Black Pool had Shenandoah, Lamoni, Centerville and Clarke.
The Raiderettes lost twice in pool play and did not advance to bracket play. Mount Ayr lost to Interstate-35 out of the West Central Activities Conference by scores of 21-15 and 21-17. The Raiderettes also lost to former POI member Martensdale-St. Mary’s to finish pool play 0-2.
In the Black Pool, the teams that advanced to the bracket play were Shenandoah and Centerville.
Shenandoah went a perfect 5-0 overall and was 10-0 in sets to win the Mount Ayr Tournament. The Mustangs beat Lamoni, Clarke and Centerville in pool play before knocking off I-35 in the semifinals and Martensdale-St. Marys in the championship.Martensdale-St. Marys was 2-0 in pool play, and Interstate 35 went 1-1 before advancing on to bracket play. The Blue Devils took a three-set win over Centerville in one semifinal before the championship loss.

Red Pool – Interstate 35 21-21 Mount Ayr 15-17; Martensdale-St. Marys def. Interstate 35; and Martensdale-St. Marys def. Mount Ayr.
Black Pool – Shenandoah 21-21 Lamoni 11-18; Shenandoah 2 Clarke 0; Shenandoah 21-21 Centerville 14-8; Centerville def. Lamoni; and Clarke def. Lamoni.
Bracket Play – Shenandoah 25-25 Interstate 35 11-18; Martensdale-St. Marys 12-25-15 Centerville 25-15-11.
Championship: Shenandoah 26-25 Martensdale-St. Marys 24-22.
