Charles Ward
Charles Ward passed away July 9 at his home near Beaconsfield. For three years he has been a constant sufferer from cancer, having made repeated trips to Des Moines and Rochester, in quest of relief. He bore his intense suffering with great fortitude and forbearance, consoled by his devout faith. He was born in Decatur County, Iowa, in 1887. He was married to Miss Margaret Grogan and to this union four children were born. Besides his family, he leaves four sisters and four brothers to mourn their loss. The funeral was held Saturday morning at ten o’clock at the Immaculate Conception Church of this place (Maloy). Rev. Father Maher, of Leon, celebrated Requiem mass and preached an inspiring sermon on “Death.” The funeral was an unusually sad one, when one recalls that it was the third funeral in the Ward family in the past eleven months. The remains were laid to rest in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Maloy, IA.
