Lewis Myers

Lewis Theodore Myers was born September 7, 1864, near Burlington, Des Moines county Iowa and died at his home near Kellerton, IA, October 28, 1824, aged 60 years and one month and twenty-one days.  The many floral offerings bespoke the high esteem in which Mr. Myers was held by the people of the community in which he has lived for so many years.  An upright, influential, unassuming man, his judgement was highly regarded by all who knew him, and his loss will be greatly felt.  He has for many years been president of the Kellerton State Bank, and out of respect to him the business houses were closed during the funeral. He grew to manhood near Mediapolis, IA and on March 25, 1891, was united in marriage to Minnie Hutchcroft.  To this union ten children were born, all of whom are living, they being Mrs. Viola Lesan of Chanute, KS; Vergie, Vada, Wayne, Glen, Lewis Jr., Grace, Ethel, Harold and Howard all of the Kellerton vicinity.  In the year 1893 Mr. Myers moved with his family to the present home near Kellerton, where he has since resided.  Some four years ago Mr. Myers’ health began to fail, he continued to fail rapidly and at the time of his death was in very feeble health.  He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Myers, of Mediapolis, IA who have preceded him in death.  He is survived by three sisters, and one brother.  They are Mrs. Henry Brader, Mrs. Mary Berning, Mrs. Minnie Frownfelter ad William Myers, all of Mediapolis.  Three sisters preceded him in death, Carrie, Lena, Thie and Mrs. Emma Heizer.  He had respect and confidence of all mankind, and has treasured up a host of friends.  Mr. Myers funeral was held Thursday afternoon at 2:30 at the Methodist Church conducted by Rev. C.E. Bennett and interment was in the Maple Row Cemetery.
