Alice M. Carpenter Terry (August 25, 1848-March 22, 1929)

Alice M. Carpenter, second daughter of Orneal D. and Lucy A. Carpenter, was born in Knox County August 25, 1848 and departed this life at her home in Galesburg, IL., March 22, 1929. She was united in marriage to Charles W. Terry at Macomb, IL., in 1868. After residing in Fulton County about two years they moved to Iowa and resided there until 1914 when they moved to Galesburg and resided with their nephew, Emery Ogden, until August 27, 1917, when Mr. Terry departed this life after which Mrs. Terry still lived with her nephew.

She was a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church of Mount Ayr, Iowa. She leaves to mourn her death a sister, Mrs. Frank Cozad, of Grant, Iowa, and one brother, O. D. Carpenter, of Loudon Mills, a number of nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were held at the home in Galesburg at 1:30 Sunday, March 24, with Rev. S.H.Zent officiating. “Beautiful Isle of Somewhere” and “The Nearer the Sweeter” were rendered by F.E. Foust and R. H. Stephenson with Harry Edmundson, Howard Carpenter, Raymond Teach, Irvin Ogden, Glenn Aringdale and Rolla Phillippi acting as pall bearers.
