MARGARET DICKSON WALTERS

MARGARET DICKSON WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 18, 1841, IN CRAWFORD COUNTY OHIO, AND DIED FEBRUARY 12, 1930, AT HER HOME NEAR ELLSTON, AGED 88 YEARS, FOUR MONTHS AND 24 DAYS. SHE WAS THE DAUGHTER OF GEORGE AND AGNES DICKSON AND WAS THE LAST OF A FAMILY OF NINE CHILDREN TO PASS AWAY. SHE GREW TO WOMANHOOD IN CRAWFORD COUNTY AND DECEMBER 5, 1867, WAS UNITED IN MARRIAGE TO CHRISTIAN WALTERS AND TO THIS UNION WERE BORN NINE CHILDREN.  AGNES, DECEASED; CHARLIE OF NEAR BEACONSFIELD, LEONA AT HOME, JAP OF LAMONI, CARRIE, DECEASED; OLLIE AND BERT OF BEACONSFIELD.  TWO CHILDREN DIED IN INFANCY.  THEY MADE THEIR HOME ON THE WALTER’S HOMESTEAD CONTINUOUSLY, EXCEPT FOUR YEARS SPENT IN MOUNT AYR. HER HUSBAND PRECEDED HER IN DEATH JANUARY 8, 1887. LEFT WITH HER FAMILY OF CHILDREN SHE CONTINUED LIFE ON THE FARM AND BROUGHT THEM ALL TO HONORABLE MANHOOD AND WOMANHOOD AND THEY HAVE ALL LOCATED NEAR THE OLD HOME AND WERE ALL AT THE BEDSIDE DURING HER ILLNESS TO ADMINISTER TO HER EVERY WANT.

IN EARLY LIFE SHE WAS AFFILIATED WITH THE PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH AND HAS LIVED A CONSISTENT CHRISTIAN LIFE. SHE WAS A WOMAN OF KIND DISPOSITION, EVER READY TO HELP THE WEAK AND AFFLICTED. SHE WAS LOVED AND RESPECTED BY ALL WHO KNEW HER AND SHE NUMBERED HER FRIENDS BY HER ACQUAINTANCES.

SHE LEAVES TO MOURN THEIR LOSS THREE SONS AND TWO DAUGHTERS, SEVENTEEN GRANDCHILDREN AND TWENTY GREAT GRANDCHILDREN, BESIDES MANY LOVING FRIENDS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WAS HELD AT THE HOME OF THE DECEASED FEBRUARY 14, AT 1:30 P.M., CONDUCTED BY THE REV. CARTER, PASTOR OF THE ELLSTON M.E. CHURCH. SHE WAS LAID TO REST IN THE ELLSTON CEMETERY.
