JOHN WESLEY HIGHTSHOE

JOHN WESLEY, SON OF ISAAC AND JANE HIGHTSHOE, WAS BORN IN PRAIRIE COUNTY, OHIO, JANUARY 17, 1867, AND DEPARTED THIS LIFE FEBRUARY 25, 1943 AT THE AGE OF 76 YEARS, ONE MONTH AND EIGHT DAYS.

IN 1907 HE ACCOMPANIED HIS BROTHER, CHRIS AND FAMILY TO RINGGOLD COUNTY, IOWA, WHERE HE HAS SINCE RESIDED, MAKING HIS HOME WITH HIS BROTHER UNTIL HIS DEATH IN 1932, AND SINCE THEN WITH HIS NEPHEW, MERLE HIGHTSHOE IN THE SAME VICINITY WHERE HE HAS MADE MANY FRIENDS BY HIS LOYAL , UPRIGHT WAYS.

HE DERIVED HIS GREATEST PLEASURE FROM VISITING WITH AND HELPING THE FAMILY AND NEIGHBORS.

HE WAS ONE OF A FAMILY OF TWELVE CHILDREN, CALEB, ISAAC CHRISTIAN, MRS. EMILY HORN, MRS. MARY LESTER, JACOB AND ALMA, WHO PRECEDED HIM IN DEATH, AND MRS. AMANDA MAY OF WASHINGTON, SOLOMON A. OF CLAREMOUNT, MN., MRS. SUSAN HUTCHINSON OF WEBSTER CITY, HARVEY E. OF NEBISH, MN. AND WILLIAM H. OF WEBSTER CITY.

THOSE LEFT TO MOURN HIS PASSING ARE THE THREE BROTHERS, TWO SISTERS, A LARGE NUMBER OF NIECES AND NEPHEWS AND MANY FRIENDS.

FUNERAL SERVICES WEE HELD FROM THE RHOADES FUNERAL HOME IN MOUNT AYR, CONDUCTED BY THE REV. THOMAS KELLY, PASTOR OF THE METHODIST CHURCH. PALL BEARERS WERE BEN BARNES, VIRGIL BARNES, FRED RICHARDSON, HOMER RICHARDSON, WILLIAM RICHARDSON AND W. P. TURNER. INTERMENT WAS MADE IN ROSE HILL CEMETERY IN LAMONI.

OUT OF TOWN RELATIVES WHO ATTENDED THE SERVICES WERE SAUL HIGHTSHOE OF MINNESOTA, EDDIE HIGHTSHOE, MRS. LULA HACKENSMITH, MRS. ELCIA LEE, MRS. HARRY HIGHTSHOE, IRA HIGHTSHOE AND LIEUT. AND MRS. PAUL HACKEYY OF WYOMING.
