Adaline Bristow Smith
Adaline Bristow, daughter of Ralph and Lavina Bristow, was born near Humansville, MO., November 6, 1861 and departed this life March 23, 1943, at Des Moines, at the age of 81 years, four months and 19 days.
She was united in marriage to Chas. Smith and to this union were born seven children, two preceding her in death. Those who survive her are her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Walter Hubbard of Shannon City, Mrs. Elza Bowers of Blockton, Mrs. Paul Fichter and Mrs. Elmer Fichter of Randolph, and Mrs. May Spaulding of Des Moines, by a previous marriage and one son, Herman Smith of Athelstan.
Grandmother Smith, as she was affectionately known, was a kind and loving mother and never was too busy to lend a helping hand to the sick in her community. She was a friend to everyone and was loved by all who knew her. For 51 years she lived a devoted Christian life being converted in the Holiness Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at two o’clock from the Rhoades Funeral Home, conducted by T.S. Rhoades. Burial was made in Rose Hill Cemetery.
