Barbara Ann Wilkey May 27, 1956-September 3, 2009

Barbara Ann Wilkey, daughter of Buck and Rosella (Boham) Howard, was born May 27, 1956 in Newton, Iowa.
After receiving her high school diploma, Barbara was a truck driver for many years. On October 19, 1993, Barbara was married to Curt Wilkey at the Calvary Baptist Church in Leon. They made their home on a farm near Ellston. Barbara was a caring compassionate wife, mother, sister and grandma.
While fighting cancer, Barbara passed away suddenly at her home on September 3, 2009. She was preceded in death by her parents; mother-in-law, Marilyn Wilkey, and a brother-in-law, Rick Lilly.
Survivors include her husband, Curt, of Ellston, Iowa; five children, Roseanne Johnson, Aggie Connelly and Leo Connelly, all of Missouri, Amanda Overholser of Maloy, Iowa and Adam Jackson of Maryville, Missouri; eight grandchildren; seven sisters, Linda Thompson of Springfield, Tennessee, Maudie Ott of Creston, Iowa, Edna Lilly of Shannon City, Iowa, Donna Hansen of Afton, Iowa, Bertha Long of Springfield, Tennessee, Rosemary Vanderpluym of Arispe, Iowa and Brenda Marshall of Arispe, Iowa; father-in-law, Jack Wilkey of Ellston, Iowa; sister-in-law, Brenda Woody of Mount Ayr, Iowa; two brothers-in-law, Steve Wilkey of Gretna, Nebraska and Dr. Aaron Wilkey of Tingley, Iowa, and other relatives and friends.
A memorial fund has been established in her name to be decided later.
Services were held at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home in Mount Ayr on Saturday, September 5, 2009, with Rev. Charles Hawkins officiating. Musical selections were ‘Amazing Grace’ and ‘Last Kiss.’
Honorary pallbearers were Gary Hansen, Lonnie Vanderpluym, Melvin Marshall, Steve Wilkey and Dr. Aaron Wilkey.
