Lester Franklin Corll August 29, 1930 – March 12, 2010

Lester Franklin Corll, son of Floyd and Sadie (Powell) Corll, was born on the family farm near Mount Ayr, Iowa on August 29, 1930.

Lester was a farmer beside his dad and brothers. As a young man, he would ride his horse, Trigger, all the time. He had a love for the wildlife and enjoyed counting the deer and wild turkeys that made their way into the pasture. Lester had a love for country music and westerns. He would faithfully feed his cats morning and evening; and they had to be fed before he and his family would eat their meals. Lester came to live with his sister, Lola, in 1973 helping with the raising of livestock and grain. Lester would end the evening polishing off chocolate milk before bedtime. Lester passed away on March 12, 2010 at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, William Corll and wife Susie and Donald Corll; sisters, Robyn May and husband Arthur and Fern Reynolds and husband Junior, and brother-in-law, Wallace Terwilliger.

Survivors include his sisters, Lola Terwilliger and Nola Landphair and husband Wilbur, all of Mount Ayr, Iowa; sister-in-law, Louise Corll of Ankeny, Iowa, and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services were conducted at Watson-Armstrong Funeral Home, Mount Ayr on Monday, March 15, 2010, with Rev. Rick Hawkins officiating. Pianist was Justin Akers.

Casket bearers included Scott Drake, Chad Drake, Nick Doolittle, Rio Doolittle, Bruce Main and Ken Rush.

Lester was laid at rest in the Maple Row Cemetery, Kellerton.
