Shirley Yvonne Davidson August 18, 1935-April 6, 2010

Shirley Yvonne Davidson, 74, passed away peacefully on the evening of April 6, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Mount Ayr after a brief battle with cancer.

Shirley was born to Vernon and Violet Rainey in Albany, Missouri on August 18, 1935. She has a sister, Dixie, married to Max Hopkins of Albany. 

She married Allen Davidson on December 30, 1954. To this union three children were born.

Shirley and Allen worked together on their dairy farm and row cropping. She then went to work at Casey’s making donuts when it came to Grant City. She later went to work for Jo Andrews at the wool shop. After losing her eyesight, she returned to the farm to help Allen fix and repair every fence and gate on the farm.

Shirley always had a beautiful garden and flowers. She loved her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids unconditionally. She never demanded their time and enjoyed going to their activities.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, her father and her mother.

Those left to cherish her memories include her husband, Allen; sons Randall (Rosana) Davidson and Robert (Teresa) Davidson, all of Savannah, Missouri; daughter Shelly (Michael) Wimer of Mount Ayr, Iowa; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the Prugh-Dunfee Funeral Home in Grant City, Missouri with graveside services following at the Grant City Cemetery. 

Memorials may be sent to family in Shirley’s name to be decided at a later date.
