Wilma Maxine Shearer January 15, 1925 – June 28, 2010

 (Wilma) Maurine Shearer, 85, of Corona, California passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, at Corona Regional Medical Center. Memorial services were held July 1 in Corona. Pastor Scott Marcum will conduct graveside services at Rosehill Cemetery in Blockton, Iowa.

 

Maurine was born on a farm near Grant City, Missouri on January 15, 1925 to Roxie Hastings Roudebush Faubion and Jessie Verne Faubion. Maurine attended country schools near Blockton and graduated from Blockton high school in May of 1942. She was united in marriage to John David Shearer of Blockton in 1942. She and John lived in Des Moines where she worked at Allied Mutual. In 1944 they moved to San Diego and later to Oakland, California, where John was stationed in the navy. In the late 1950s they moved permanently to California where Maurine worked for Norco and for Boeing Aircraft/Rockwell, retiring in 1985.

Maurine was known for her intelligence and wit. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and spending time with her friends and family. She was very fond of her birds, Amigo and Jackie.

Preceding Maurine in death were her husband, John David; her parents, and a brother, Robert, who was killed in WW II. 

Surviving her are her sister, Kathleen Drake of Blockton, Iowa; nephews, Terry (Donna) Henson of Blockton, Iowa and Bob (Linda) Henson of Clive, Iowa, and numerous great and great-great-nieces, nephews and friends.
