Michael Wayne George November 23, 1951 – September 2, 2010

Michael Wayne George was born November 23, 1951 to Wayne and JoAnn (Hanks) George at the Ringgold County Hospital in Mount Ayr, Iowa. He left his family, after a short battle with cancer, at his home in Glenrock, Wyoming with his wife, mother and daughter Erika at his side on September 2, 2010 at the age of 58.
Mike grew up in Kellerton, Iowa and graduated from Grand Valley school in 1970. In 1974 he married Debbie Straight. To this union one daughter was born, Patricia JoAnn (Matt) West of Kellerton, Iowa. They later divorced. In 1980 he married Terry Hymbaugh. To this union one daughter was born, Erika (Jason) Bevers of Douglas, Wyoming. In 2008 he married Karey Haislip, who brought to this union three sons, Brandon (Kathryn) Haislip, Dustin (Trisha) Brown and Jordan (Ashley) Brown.
Mike left Iowa in 1978 to go to Wyoming where he started working for Valenitine Construction. He continued to work for them for 28 years. Mike worked for Phipps Construction for two years before starting at the Bixby Ranch in 2007. While working there, he made a lot of good friends and many memories.
Mike loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting anything from big game to arrow heads. He loved wildlife and was always nursing back to health young animals. He continued to pursue the family trade of trapping. He enjoyed the mountains and spent as much time as possible in them. He and his brother, Tuffy, spent many hours shooting guns and bow and arrows and enjoying the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife and children; parents of Kellerton, Iowa; sister, Patty (Mike) Grose, and sister-in-law, Joann (Tuff) George of Glenrock, Wyoming; six grandchildren, Olivia and Sophia West, Ryann and Tyler Bevers, Kiera Brown and Bailey Brown; three nephews; three nieces; many cousins; his aunt, Bonnie Brown of Bellevue, NE, and his many friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Lee (Tuffy) George.
Services were held Saturday, September 11, 2010, at the Bixby Ranch in Glenrock, Wyoming. Services were performed by Rev. Ron Kain.
Cremation has taken place under the direction of Bustard’s Funeral home. His final resting place will be with his brother on Cherry Hill in the Laramie Mountain Range.
